So I am a Durham, North Carolina native who is planning on applying to Duke University early decision. I heard from a college reaction video of a dude who gotten accepted to a school through quest bridge that said if the school that you really want and if you were accepted to you would go, apply through the common app, but if you have multiple choices of schools you would gladly attend, apply through quest bridge. I am making this post to see if that is true, I live in the Durham area where Duke University is located. I am a URM and 1st generation student who wants to apply through Early Decision binding. Which should I use Quest Bridge or Common App? (hope i made some sense lol)
Is your family also low income? Questbridge is for high achieving, low income students.
From my understanding QuestBridge isn’t a fully open application program. There is a process in which QuestBridge selects “Finalists” for their program.(I may be wrong this is what I assume from reading about it) I would fill out both forms.
QuestBridge Finalists tens to be from Low-Income family’s are are first Gen. College students. And has some requirements.
QuestBridge is Good if you want to apply to more than 1 school as ED/EA because the whole program is ED. Common app is perfectly fine for apply to multiple schools, but you can only apply to one ED school(you could apply to multiple schools Non Binding EA though).
Summary: Questbridge is for Low income students, it allows them to apply and gain admittance to a school earlier than if they applied normally. Questbridge only allows you to apply to 10 schools, while the Common App allows you to apply to as many schools as you want. From my understanding people who apply through QuestBridge are competing against ALL Applicants so it does not give you less competition.
You should discuss this with your Guidance Counselor. They will know more about both of the application processes and which is best for you.
