I made a forum for juniors applying this year. Ask if you have any questions below.
Lmao, I was waiting for a CPS thread to pop up. I don’t have any questions at the moment…
Oo, I just want to clarify - March 20 @ 11:59 PM PST = March 20 @ 2:59 AM EST (Since California is 3 hours behind the East Coast, right). I’d hate to mess this up and miss the submission date/time for this app
@memeqween101 yeah I think that’s right, but just to be safe, I’d submit earlier in the day.
I’m scared to apply because of my 1240 SAT score
@meloreal2 honestly, just go for it. I took the February ACT yesterday and I’m so nervous about getting a bad score because it was hard, but I’ll still apply anyway. It doesn’t hurt to try.
Oof, I meant March 20 @ 11:59 PM PST = March 21 @ 2:59 AM EST. But yah I’ll probs try to submit my app on the 19th
Hello Everyone - I am not a student, but a parent. I just want to let everyone who reads this thread to know that you shouldn’t be discouraged if you don’t get CPS. My daughter wasn’t selected for CPS, but was selected as a QB Finalist.
I wish you the best of luck in the process.
@momofmusician17 thanks for your post. as much as i’d like to get into cps, my ultimate goal is the ncm:)
Hi, just curious. Do you know why your daughter wasn’t chosen as into CPS. I actually thought it was easier than becoming a QB finalist.
@MaxD2002 - I am not sure why. I do know that she put more time into her College Match application. There were more questions to answer and more ways to highlight her situation and our financial situation. Her essays were definitely better as she spent more time on them. She said that her CPS essays were more tell and her NCM essays were more show.
I will say that the entire application process is filled with many twists and turns. I was actually stunned when my son applied and wasn’t a finalist. He then applied to Yale EA and was accepted. My daughter is a finalist and wasn’t matched. We are definitely keeping our fingers crossed for the RD round.
Good luck!
Hi, I have been getting emails about QB College Prep Scholars Program and I’m wondering if I should apply or not. Is it worth it? Does it look good on college apps for colleges that aren’t in the Match program?
You definitely should! If the college you want to go for is currently looking for more low income students to raise their rankings, then the CPS status shows that you’re one of them. Also, it’s a chance to win some Quest Awards
@MarwahIsmail I took the Feb ACT too! Just got my score the other day!
Hey everyone. I was wondering if I would even get considered for questbridge college prep scholars. I am extremely low income, first gen to go to college and like I haven’t taken the SAT or ACT but did take the PSAT and my score wasn’t high, it was about average. I have like a 4.52 unwieghted gpa but should I still try? The average SAT from last year was about 1300 and I am like 200 points below that. Any advice?
@ivan08 as someone who has a low sat score (but not a gpa as high as urs), I say that we go for it - you don’t know until you don’t try. I’m just trying to make my essays really good
Does becoming a QB junior make the process smoother for college match senior year?
@Crunchtime2020 yes - believe that the acceptance rate for ncm is much higher for college prep scholars than non-college prep scholars
my teacher submitted my rec, i submitted my transcript, and now i have to write these essays - thank god that im on spring break. hopefully they’ll extend the deadline like they did last year
Questbridge wants the letter of recommendation to be from a teacher in a Core Subject. Can my letter of recommendation be from my Science Research teacher? He doesn’t teach chemistry or physics, but he’s a science teacher and he knows me really well.
