Anyways, I was wondering..

If someone applies to QuestBridge for their CollegeMatch program and becomes a QB finalist, is it wise for that student to apply to schools like Yale and/or Princeton through QB?

I've looked through the other threads and heard some people complaining that it was better to apply ED to these schools, rather than through QB. Why is this? Is it because the acceptance rate through QB is a lot lower? And isn't it also true that you can apply to any of these schools Regular Decision if you are unmatched?

Yeah, I know, I'm weird. I just went to the QB website and was curious.

Yale isn't a partner college. I don't see how applying ED is better than QB, since with QB, you have a shot at a full ride, whereas in ED, all you can get is acceptance and a binding attendance. The acceptance rate through QB isn't exactly revealed -- not for the individual schools, at least. But if you take the number of match recipients and divide it by the number of participating finalists, then you'd have roughly 10%, which is about the acceptance rate of many of their partners. Yes, you can apply RD if you're unmatched.

Where did you see people complaining that ED is better than QB? Link?

In addition, it seems to me that applying through QB would be easier -- QB apps are evaluated separately, many of them are URMs, the colleges know that they're underprivileged, etc.

Apparently, Yale is one of the partner colleges. Check the QB website. I think this is the first year Yale will be participating.

Oh, all right. I saw it on some old threads, and it would take forever to dig up.. but I heard that someone had applied to Princeton through QB and was not matched, and was severely disheartened. I believe there were three CCers that were applying through QB.

I didn't think ED would be better than QB.. I looked at the website and there were a few of QB finalists that got accepted to Princeton. Though, when I look at the average SAT score for all the finalists, it seems a bit low.. maybe they're on the old SAT? I'm not sure. This is all very confusing.

I would like to apply, but I'm not sure.. I don't think I'd be accepted. And even if I am, no guarantee that I'll be matched to a school. But I suppose it's worth a try.

Well that's interesting. I just recently checked the site, and Yale wasn't there. I guess they're new.

Also, I don't see how applying through QB and getting rejected would be any more disheartening than applying ED and getting rejected.

I'm going to apply too. I'm pretty sure I'll be a finalist, but I'm not so sure about the 'match' part.
