Questbridge: rejection and regular decision

I applied to the National college match through the questbridge program and did not end up becoming a finalist. Do you think it’s worth it to apply through questbridge’s regular decision or would it be useless? (feeling discouraged)

I’m really sorry but if you weren’t selected as a finalist then you aren’t eligible to use QuestBridge regular decision for colleges. :frowning: Honestly, this isn’t the end of the world. You can always apply using Common App, take advantage of fee waivers, and use your QuestBridge app for essays (tweaking or rewriting as necessary). It’ll all work out in the end! We all end up where we’re meant to be. Good luck!

Some colleges allow you to use the application even though you’re not a finalist. If you feel like the QuestBridge app captures who you are, submit it

There are some serious BS myths going around this forum and it is time to bust those. NOT BEING A FINALIST DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOUR QUESTBRIDGE APPLICATION IS WASTED. There are 21 colleges that will take your QB apps regardless of your finalist status and award you a lot of aid if they take you in:

Non-Finalists who need to do this:

  • Non-Finalists who trust their Questbridge Applications and Essays, and feel that their finalist decisions were a result of high income, assets, fault on QB's side etc

-Non-Finalists who feel that CommonApplication is inadequate to describe their circumstances and want to gain the edge by applying with Questbridge Application

-Non-Finalists who are applying to 20 places already with their Commonapp. If you are one of these, and getting unlimited SAT and CSS waivers, there is zero cost to applying to a few schools with your QB App too. Schools like EMORY, GRINNELL and COLBY doesn’t even require supplements if you are submitting Questbridge Application. BOWDOIN allows updated essays from non-finalists.

Non-Finalists who are better off applying through CommonAPP:

  • Non-Finalists who co-relates their decision with the quality of their QB app. If you can see the blunders you made on your application now, If you believe that you can craft a better CommonApplication, that might be the way to go.
