There have only been a few posters stating their choices. I would imagine that QB will get at least 4000 applications in the early round. Some may regard Wheaton as highly as you do. Most probably don't even know about this site, and of those that do, how many would be inclined to post their choices? Just the same, good luck with your application. Keep us posted.

If I haven't taken the SAT 2 yet, would Stanford looked down on me during the QB round and possible not rank me, but I 've great essays and recommendations, the only problem is I'll be taking the SAT 2 in November and I wrote that in my additional information section.

FarrCT, Stanford requires it right? Well, in that case, I think it might go against you since Stanford will be getting lots of competitive applicants. But i'm sure that may be in the regular round if you're a strong applicant too and you do well on your SATIIs in November, you can be accepted!! I mean the basics of trying to get into the school is really getting the base requirements down packed. This is what I think, but call Stanford's admissions office and ask them about this. Good luck and don't worry yourself too much!

my choices-
Yale
Princeton
Stanford

becuase they were all non binding and I am in love with UPenn and its Wharton school and Duke University

I'm only doing Stanford for the match.

However, does applying through Stanford through Questbridge actually increase my chances? Because if it doesn't affect my chances, I might as well apply later. Besides, Stanford isn't my first choice, so I don't know what to do... help?

Stanford doers not require SAT2s

OOh...well, in that case, I guess Stanford wouldn't necessarily "look down on you". You should be fine and yeah, if you're going to take them in November, I think there's nothing to lose.

notre dame is also non-binding

um... so does anyone know whether being a Questbridge finalist will give you an advantage in admissions compared to like normal decision (for Stanford)?

From QB:
"Dear QuestBridge Advisor,
I am on the 'Application Forwarding' section of the application, and I was wondering what the benefit is of applying to these colleges using the QuestBridge application for Regular Decision?
Deciding about Regular

Dear Deciding about Regular,
There are a number of reasons why using the QuestBridge application for early or regular decision can be beneficial. First of all, the QuestBridge application helps you stand out from the rest of the applicant pool. Admissions officers are seeking to increase socioeconomic diversity on their campus, and they know that the students who are applying through QuestBridge can help accomplish this while also being qualified and motivated. Second, the application allows you the space to paint a more complete picture of yourself through its additional essays and customized Personal, Household, and Academic Information sections. This helps admissions officers get a sense of who you are, rather than the limited information provided on other applications. Third, our partner colleges waive the application fee for QuestBridge finalists. Finally, your application is already mostly completed. While you may need to submit additional materials to the colleges for regular decision, you would need to provide them regardless of which application you are using. "

Thanks a lot! I guess I'll start on my Common App now... :D

yahoo, i am tooooo!

I was just looking through the Stanford FAQ on the Questbridge site, and now I'm really confused. It says they are not making match offers until December. But the students are notified if they got a match in November. What happens if a student gets a binding match in November, then gets a match offer from Stanford? My son ranked 5 schools, but he ranked Stanford first, so would the Stanford match supercede the other match? Too confusing...

According to their site, Questbridge matches you with the best school that will take you according to the ranks you sent in.

For example, if Stanford wants you, and you ranked Stanford #2, you will go there even if you also got into schools 3, 4, etc.

I guess the part I found confusing is the time lag between when the other schools are matched and when Stanford matches. You may get a match offer in November, and think you are going to go to that school, then find out in December you aren't really matched to that school, you matched to Stanford instead. That's what I find strange.

I talked to a Stanford Admission officer and she said tha questbridge students are first evaluated together. Then, the ones who passed, I guess, are put with the Early Action kids.

I didn not know, however, that we won't find out about match until mid december.

yea bondgirl, I find it really strange too because what if they tell me I am matched to let's say columbia, which I ranked after Stanford, and I am all happy about going there....then they tell me I get into Stanford laterrrr...what?? this is very very strange.

Remember that Stanford's match is non-binding. You can still go to Columbia if you want to.

They notify matches mid-December? But their RD is due mid to late December. how would non-matched finalists know whether or not to apply RD?

And is mid-December for all schools or just Stanford, and does that mean that it is possible that one get matched at say Columbia (binding) but also get accepted to Stanford later?

All partners schools return their decisions to QB at the same time. All matched students are notified by a QB representative, and this happens at the date posted on the QB site. The mid-december notification date is for SCEA and NOT for QB finalists. Remember that is impossible to be both a QB and Stanford SCEA applicant.

I would advise everyone to trust the system and stop worrying about possible loopholes. The first step is become a finalist!
