So I’m doing the questbridge college match scholarship and I need to have a list of 12 schools down by tomorrow. I do have a list made but I’d like the input from students who attend or know more about any of these schools. The schools are: University of Pennsylvania, Rice, University of Southern California, University of Virginia, Brown. And the ones I’m less sure about: Hamilton, Swarthmore, University of Chicago, Colorado College, Vanderbilt, and Macalester College. I really like a city environment and I want to study Accounting or Mathematics. Thank you!
Just a reminder that if you rank 12 schools, you’ll be writing supplements for 12 schools (unless some of those schools don’t require supplements). You might want to think about that before committing to writing that many essays.
As for your choices, I only know USC is in a shady part of town, so right outside of the campus is pretty bad. I also know that UPenn students take “work hard, play hard” seriously, so they have many parties. Sorry I don’t know much about any of the other schools–hope this helps!
If you want city, get rid of Hamilton. It’s a great school but really as not city as they come.
Some of these schools have a more mainstream/preppy vibe (Vanderbilt) while others are at the other end of the spectrum. (Macalester). At Colorado College, you take only one class at a time. Does that appeal to you? ChIcago seems to have more in common with your other choices.
