QuestBridge

Can I partake in QuestBridge and still apply to a school ED? Or is that against some sort of policy?

NOPE . Against policy

Aw crap, now I don't know what to do =/

Well, with QB you apply early to like 8 schools, or you apply early to 1 other school.........wha school do you want to apply early to/

Look at the deadlines and RESPONSE date of the 20 partner schools of QB. Then look at the application due date for your ED school. You will hear from QB on October 25 and have to rank your schools. The final decision is made on December 1.

You can consider the entire QB to be some kind of massive ED with the difference that you do rank 8 schools as opposed to pick ... one.

Well I wanna apply to penn ED because that's where I wanna go but Questbridge has a lot of good schools :(

If you are eligible for the QuestBridge program, unless it takes you out of the running for your dream school, you should definitly pursue it. Not only will you get guidance through the whole process, but you'll end up in the right place based on research and fit, rather than some prestige-oriented perception of where a student like you SHOULD be.

it seems like you still can do QB and ED if by Oct 25th you haven't been matched to any of the schools. Most ED's are in Nov. So I'm planning to do both.

Wait grt, what do you mean matched to any of the schools?

Just read the other thread - nm. I thought the Oct date you were matched...that date is just to determine finalists for QB.

Hi! My top choice school takes part in the questbridge program, and I was originally considering applying to it under Early Action. However, I was looking up the statistics and it seems like the percentage of applicants accepted practically match the same admittance percentage as regular decisions for those same colleges. Also, the percentage of Asians (which I am) admitted under questridge seems kind of low as well.
I know that you're garenteed a full scholarship if admitted under the questbridge program, but my family's net income for 4 people is way below 20,000, so assuming that I get into the colleges I want to go and colleges usually provide pretty good finacial aid package for me.

So, so will questbridge work towards my advantage at all???
Thanks!

^^ in your case, probably not. It would actually be somewhat a disadvantage since you'd be bound to go the school your matched to. The financial aid is essentially the same if you'd applied RD; Stanford, for example, even says this in its FAQ. The magic of the program is just that you get to apply to multiple schools ED, and the majority of those who actually get the Match scholarship are URMs (70% of those matched are).

To the OP: I've said it once, I'll say it a thousand times: don't apply to any school ED unless it's your dream college and you wouldn't mind being bound to go. Sure, QuestBridge has a ton of great schools -- Amherst, Stanford, Williams, Vassar, Yale, Columbia, Princeton, U Chicago, etc. -- but if none of them are your first choice and you'd rather apply to Penn ED, then apply to Penn ED. No sense in applying through QuestBridge, even if it is full of name-brand schools.

Thanks! ^_^ Your advice really helps!

I wish Harvard was with QB :(

They were the past couple years.... I think
