QB has already selected its 16(or some small number) students for scea. I heard that the rest(about 2000 ppl) get deferred to RD. In all my statistics obsession, is this 2000 included in the 5000ish people that applied SCEA this year? Or are they not counted? Cause if they are counted, that would mean we actually only have 3000 people competing for the 700ish(from past year) scea spots. But hey, I might be talking nonsense. I heard about the numbers from Quicksandslowly, who is a QB this year. Am I just being blindly optimistic here?

uhhh there are probably 2000 QB finalists in total. Not all of them put on their list that they wish to be considered for stanford. I'd be surprised if more than 500 did.

1) Not all QB finalists rank Stanford. About 2/3 did in 2007.

2) QB applicants are not counted in SCEA. They are all considered RD applicants (that's what they put on the Common App); this is supported by the reported SCEA applications, which has not risen at the rate that QB apps have (i.e. SCEA apps would have risen much more if QB apps were counted).

If you include QB's apps in SCEA, its admit rate would be about 12%.
