Question+a Chance

Hey everyone. I've got a question and then I'd like to be chanced for WUSTL. My question is, is the ACT median range at WUSTL inflated in any way? I mean, I've got a 31, and am planning on taking the ACT again & the SAT and anticipating about a 33 on the ACT and a 2200+ on the SAT.

Also here are my stats:

<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/953637-chance-me-ivies.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/953637-chance-me-ivies.html</a>

In addition to this, I'm now the VP of a political discussion organization at my school.

It’s superscored, but not “inflated”.

ah. That’s sort of what I meant. Anything that would “distort” the scores. Superscored, I have a 32. Is that bad?

^No, that’s right around the middle 50%. When I was still in high school, the rep that came to my school flat out said the average was a 33.

its a little low, but not enough to rule you out. you fall into the large category of people who have the stats to get into many top schools, but due to the crapshoot that we call college admissions, you will likely get rejected by some top schools and accepted by others. It might depend on whether you are the tenth “white male band player who wants to be a doctor” that day, or your app gets read after a long refreshing weekend. Good Luck!

So basically, it’s totally subjective.

And CRAP. I am the white male band player who want to be a Doctor!

Well no, not totally. Its a mix. Like a test thats half scantron and half essay response. Half of your app (GPA, SAT/ACT, SAT II) can be described in numbers, like a scantron. The other half is like the essay portion (Personal Statement, Letters of Rec, EC’s etc). Thats the subjective part. IMO, your subjective portion of your app only matters if the objective portion is up to snuff, which yours seems like it will be. Especially if your “anticipated scores” end up how you predict them.

At least thats how I see it lol :)

That is actually an excellent analogy, NWrnnr5!

wrightm: you’re a junior. With a lot going on. Don’t overdo the college stuff just yet. Focus on your grades and ECs, and the PSAT. After reading your list of scores and all, I kept thinking you’re putting a lot of pressure on yourself, what with all those “anticipated scores/grades/courses”. All that might be true, but enjoy junior year too. You’ll get into a fine college.

I’m a senior. The post was right towards the beginning of the summer. I’m sorry if that confused anyone!
