I am a prebusiness major specializing in finance, ho does the application process work to get accepted into your major? Is finance very competitive, what is the admission rate? I know the website says you must complete the specific courses and maintain a 3.0, but does that guaruntee anything?

It’s pretty much by GPA. If you go to the advising office they’ll tell you what the cut off is for each program. I think that Accounting has the highest.

I am a current Fisher student in finance, and while I was automatically admitted due to being in the honors program, I gather that other than the GPA requirement, it is not difficult to get into the specialization you desire. I don’t, however, know the admission rate, and I doubt it is published.

I believe you will need a 3.4 GPA after your freshman year in order to be admitted to either the finance or accounting specialization, and 3.0 for other specializations. The pre-reqs for business are not overly difficult, although I found the 150-series of calculus classes to be a challenge, so if you are not great at math, I recommend taking the easier 130-series.

thanks, any other recommendations for prebiz/ gec reqs

The only other advice I can give is to take the pre-reqs earlier rather than later. If you try to double major or pick up a minor, you will appreciate having the time to do so. It is very doable to double major within Fisher, so leave yourself the option.
