Question about 1296 Practice Questions and how it correlates to actual test? HELP!

Hey guys,

I finished 5 tests from a red book. It was a long time ago, around September I believe.

I purchased 1296 princeton review questions, but it seems harder than the actual. Is it helpful doing these harder tests? It's kind of demotivating, actually :/

I was thinking about redoing the exams from the red book...I don't remmeber the answers.

What do you guys think?

Princeton Review and Barron’s are known for their higher difficulty level respective to the actual ACT. Their strategy is that by subjecting the student to increased difficulty, those students will be best prepared for the difficult questions on the ACT (there are some). You should take your scores on the Princeton questions with a grain of salt, but doing them will probably benefit you in the long run. Whether they’ll help you so close to test time, of course, is up for debate–they could be counterproductive. If the exam is demoralizing you and increasing your anxiety come test date, I’d say refer not to the ACT test book, but rather to official practice exams they’ve administered over the years. A good link to those tests is this one:

The tests posted there are NOT in the red book, and so they’re not “previously-administered tests.” Still, given that they’re the official practice tests, you can imagine that they offer a fair representation of the actual exam.

Of course, if you can somehow retain your confidence via the Princeton Review I’d suggest you stick with those questions–they’re harder, but they’ll make the actual test content seem easier (if not trivial). Despite all of this information, you should go with your gut: If Princeton mitigating your confidence, do the tests referenced in the link.

I’ve already done all those tests, macve. Should I just use Princeton, then? I need materials for 2-3 hours tonight and tomorrow, and then friday I’ll do one official.

I’d say red book. If anything, you’ll be versed in the topics on the exam come Saturday. Just make sure to note the questions you get wrong, know why you were wrong, and reinforce yourself so as not to make the same mistake when it counts.

K, I’ll redo red book tests then.
