Hello CC,
So, I am in a bit of a dilemma regarding my senior year grades. I’m applying ED to Amherst College, and they require “first-marking” senior year grades. The problem is, my school does not operate on a quarter system, and only works on a sort of pseudo-semester system.
On my transcript, only grades from the end of the year show up, even though we technically operate on semesters (1st semester averaged with 2nd semester). We technically do have a quarter progress report, but its purpose is only motivational/informational and plays no role in our grades.
To further complicate this, about half of my courses are online, which don’t even have semester system, just a continuous full-year one.
What do I do?
So I’ll admit that I don’t completely understand your grading system (why can’t there be a standard one???,) but the gist of your OP was: what is my first quarter grades when my school doesn’t grade by quarters and by semesters (or something other than quarters?) The answer is whatever your counselor tells you. My school graded by semester as well and only offered unofficial mid-semester grades as a “quarter progress report,” and my counselor just emailed those when Brown emailed her.
Hope that helps! Good luck with admissions!
