i know that getting into the lottery for vdc and norte is hard for 3rd years but what other optiosn are there. the other apartments that i see are much more expensive, such as UTC apartments. is it possible to get any rooms for around 600 to 700? and when is the best time to start looking

The same company that runs VDC and VDCN is opening a new undergraduate (upper classmen) community called Camino del Sol. It’s supposed to open for Fall 2010. But when you go to the VDC/VDCN website, all it says about it is “Coming Soon.”

Do you care if the room is shared or not? I know a couple of my friends who have shared room apt’s and are paying 400-600$.

I forgot the apt’s names

i just saw their rates, and camino del sol is going to be even more expensive than vdc.

try for vdc or norte anyway. one of my friends said that people don’t try because they think it’s hard to get into, so not as many people apply as we think. the only problem is that i heard you can’t pick roommates since you won’t know who else is offered a lease

if you don’t mind sharing a room, places like dartmouth seem pretty good

yeah but aren’t most of those “university name” court (harvard court, berkeley court, columbia, etc.) apartmnets all more expensive the vdc and norte?

i think that if you want a single room, it’d be more expensive, but if you’re okay with sharing a room, the price i usually see is like 550-600

It’s usually cheaper if you can find people to live with and share the apartment with them. The more people you have living with you, the cheaper it will be. Camino Del Sol is gonna be way more expensive (about 800 or so for a four-people one). If you really wanna live at VDC or Norte, try the waitlist. It won’t hurt. Also, try finding people whom you would want to live with next year so that you guys can coordinate something. Did you apply for AV or CV?

go with Princeton Town-homes! i lived there last year, 2 rooms (1 bath though) and i paid about 400 for a shared room. If you don’t mind living next to familys and stuff…if not, never mind. you get a garage, and 2 overnight parking passes + guest pass so parking is no problem…it’s next to Stanford Ct btw.

^, thats a great deal!

Phamous, you have to pay for utilities though right? How much do you pay? Can you tell us a little more? hehe, because I’m interested :P

well, yes you have to pay utilities, so it ran ~35 bucks a month for each of us, but of course it varies depending on if you want cable, telephone, etc so yeah. overall, i think the parking situation was great. i moved on campus this year (cv) and i hate having to pay 80 bucks a month for parking

oh, and i’m sure all the units have it, but it has hardwood floors and a fireplace. neat right? yeah, i sound like i work for them, but i don’t haha.

oh and the 2 rooms…one’s a master with a private balcony (that’s only if you live on the second floor though)

anyone know of a good place to live if you want a single room?

Cool, I’ll definitely check the place out next year :)
