Our son tossed out his upper and lower retainers with the trash during lunch yesterday…(Yikes!) Will he be given the opportunity to recast and replace them? Dad and I would hate to see 7 years of ortho work go out the window. His orthodontist advised him to wear 24/7 (when they didn’t interfere with training) for one year. We have no problem covering the cost ourselves. (Of course, our C/C will be assisting with this cost too. We think he’ll be more attentive the next time, since replacements would take a bite out of his wallet too.)

If he's at the Prep School, they might take care of it for him. Worth asking...

Thanks doc

Or you could have an awesome orthodontist like mine who keeps the molds and offers free retainer replacements :)

Yeah, falcon is right. Most orthodontists keep the casts they make in the office. Call and see if another set can't be made for him/her and then you could just send them to him/her.

I checked with his orthondontist and his office did not keep the cast. I hope he can get replacements.

Thanks for all the help--the Prep School took care of him (You were right doc) My C/C was casted and fitted for temps until his permanent set is ready. I'm willing to bet he will be more attentive in future.
