Question about a question on the app - have you ever enrolled in high school honors, AP or IB course

There is a question on the Penn State online app “Have you ever enrolled or are you scheduled to enroll in high school honors, advanced placement (AP), or international baccalaureate (IB) courses?”.

The possible answers are the numbers from 1-20. What is the definition of an honors course for the purpose of this question? My son has taken all honors or AP courses throughout high school. So the number of courses taken exceeds the max answer of 20 which I’m sure is try for many applicants. So I’m wondering if there is a different, more specific definition of honors course that wouldn’t apply to my son.

You list AP or IB exam level classes first and fill the rest with other honors classes. If it allows only 20 spots then fill those 20 spots.

The answer is based on what your school calls honors/pre-ap and not anything else. If the school does not designate a class as honors or preAP, then you can not list it as one.
