Question about academic history section in application.

Are you suppose to list classes you received a W or an F in, but later was replaced with a better grade after retaking the class again?

Thanks for asking the very well focused, on-topic question. The way I would answer it is to check what the transcript of the place where you have taken the courses says. (You should always look at a copy of your transcript before sending it out anyhow.) List the classes the same way they appear on your official transcript, unless your college application form has more specific instructions, would be my general advice.

Good luck in your applications.

That’s where I’m confused. I thought the F wont show up in the official transcript if you take the class again and received a better grade. So, say if I took general chemistry two semester ago and failed. Do I list that if I took the same class the next semester and passed? Or do I just list the one with a better grade?

Just checking in.

In the UC system and according to my counselor, no, you don’t list the first time you took the class. It will still show up on your transcript, but schools (theoretically) will not count it in calculating your GPA.

I hate to make another thread, so I’ll just ask here. I took pre-calc during a summer as a refresher course, but my grade was never recorded. It says “RD” under grade and I’m not sure what that means. RD isn’t under one of the possible choices in the application. Also,I went on and took calc the next semester after.

I’d just ignore the retaken-but-not-graded class. You’ve already got the academic credit for taking pre-cal the first time and calculus afterwards.
