Question about Acceptance Letters...

Pardon the first generation college-bound senior =)

Okay, so I know Yale updates the Eli account with your acceptance, deferral, or rejection on December 15th at around 5:00PM. When does the letter come? Or do they still send a letter? I don't want to have my spirits crushed by the website only to have it crushed again by snail-mail. I also don't want my parents finding out before me.

Any answer would be much appreciated!

As far as I know, for deferral and rejections they will only send out a letter if you haven’t checked your decision online within a certain amount of time (72 hours, maybe?).

I’m not sure what they do if you’re accepted.

I read somewhere on CC that they don’t give rejection letters, but someone correct me if I’m wrong. I also read that if you don’t check your online status for a couple of days after results are posted, they’ll send you a letter. I am sure all acceptees will get a congratulatory letter!!

all those accepted get an admitted students package

They will definitely send you a letter if you’ve been admitted. I wouldn’t be surprised if these letters will be in the mail by this Wednesday. Remember that after accepting you, Yale needs to lure you into matriculating, and their efforts to woo you begin with big, shiny envelopes. :D

I’m not sure about the rejection/deferral letters, but I think that they send those out too. It’s common courtesy.

This was the policy last spring for RD. I assume it will apply this fall for EASC, and, later for RD.
