In the english section, I scored a 16 subscore in usage/mechanics and a 14 subscore in rhetorical skills. My test score in English is a 29. How is this possible? Shouldn't I have received a 30 in English?

i got 15 15 and 29 so no its right.

I see, but can anyone give me an explanation as to why this is that would make sense? Is it the ACT curve?

ACT clearly states that sub scores don't necessarily add up to section scores.

Every question you miss you go down 1 point. Sometimes you go down two points for a missed question, and sometimes your go down no points at all. All depends on how everyone else did, and how the curve is set

haha Thanks for the responses. I was just wondering because if I would have got a 30 on English I would have got 30 overall.

i missed one question once for math and they gave me a 34....they dont add up
