Question about admissions requirement

So... I have a question. I'm currently an undergrad student, a freshman. Now, from all the med school websites, it says that they require a year of general chemistry with lab (duh). Due to some bizarre circumstances, I got to take General Chem I with lab last semester, but will have to take General Chem II during the summer. Now, at the place where I plan to take General Chemistry II, they dont offer a lab with it....

Do medical school allow that? Or do they want both semesters to include a lab? Moreover, could I still take the General Chemistry course over the summer, and then take a lab next semester, without a class?????

Thanks for reading,
RS

Your four semester of chemistry all require labs. As for taking the course first and then the lab, that should depend on your school policy.

I'd recommend that you wait to take Gen Chem II at your home institution.

You could take the lab portion at a later point, but make sure this is a possibility as I know that at many schools, at least for gen chem, the there is no separate lab course...it all falls under the same course number/heading/title. (ie Chem 109 at my school was 4 hours, and you had to sign up for a recitation and a lab under the corresponding course section, whereas Chem 251 was organic I lecture, and Chem 253 was Organic I lab, and could be signed up for separately)

Wel... my school has a strange situation...

General Chemistry II here at Mary Baldwin does not even HAVE a lab, so the professors generally just make you take Gen Chem II with Analytical Lab, which is a seperate, 2 credit course.... wierd, huh?

Okay, well that works then. But I still think you'd be better off just waiting to take it at your home institution. It will put you behind schedule, but that's not the end of the world.
