So i just finishedmy junior year of HS and i'm starting to look at colleges. My GPA is 3.4 unweighted and my SAT score is 2010, on the 1600 scale its a 1400. I took mostly AP's and Honors classes junior year and will take mostly AP's next year. I'm preety sure i want to major in science but i'm not really sure where i should apply to with my GPA and SAT scores, some i know that i want to apply to are Boston University, Northeastern, and RPI. Do guys think i have a shot at getting into any of those schools?

Yes, you have a shot, although to accurately chance you we need to know more. Class rank? ECs? Race? High school type? Recruitment for sports? Legacy? Things like that.

Well my school doesn’t really rank people so i have no idea. For EC’s i made a cricket club at my school(I’m indian). I also do a few other clubs, no recruitment for sports. I did try playing basketball for my school a few times but never made the cut. My sister went to northeastern and my dad went to RPI and BU. I live in MA and go to lexington high school, its a public school and has 2000 students.

Also on the two AP’s i took this year, U.S and Chem, i got 4’s on both. And based on my standardized state exams i’m in the top 20% of my class

Your scores are in range and you’re a legacy at 2 out of 3 schools, so that’s good. However, the fact that you’re Indian means you’ll be counted as Asian on your applications, so you have to see yourself in the “Asian pool” of applicants, from which high test scores are expected, so if you can get your scores up that would really help you. Hmm, when applying note that you founded the cricket club, and if it’s appropriate then call yourself the captain of the team or president of the club, but if this isn’t true then don’t make it out to be. Your chances are solid, but make sure to find safety schools you’ll be happy at.

Ok I do have some safety schools that i will apply to. I just wasn’t sure if the schools i mentioned were out of my range or not. Thanks for the quick response!

Sure thing, not a problem at all(:
