For those that have gotten accepted to Rice, how were your common app and supplement essays? I am really stressing out about the essays as every topic known to man is "cliche" lol. I have pretty good stats and will probably apply ED, but would an "average" and "cliched" essay stop me from getting accepted to this great school? Thanks guys!

I thought my common app essay was “acceptable” but I was very proud of my supplement essay. I think rice, more than other schools, focuses on their supplement essay a lot.

The general subject of the essay may be cliche, but keep the perspective as unique as possible.

Thanks guys!
I just finished my essay (I’ve rewritten it several times)… Does anyone want to read it? It is not great, and I need some tips on improvement.

If you send your essay to me I will look over it. I am a senior at RU.

I felt that my common app essay was quite strong, but I didn’t spend much time on the supplement essays at all. I wrote both of them in the span of a few hours, but they were still decent, just not spectacular.

I thought my CommonApp essay was pretty strong. My supplement was a bit rushed but looking back I felt I wrote a pretty strong supplement essay too. My other supplemental short answers were also pretty good. I’m fairly confident my essays made a difference in my admissions decision.

I would be more than happy to read the essay and give some advice if you need it.
