Question about admissions

Ok so there are 4 colleges:

College of Arts & Sciences
Penn Engineering
The School of Nursing
The Wharton School

I, like many, want to apply to the Wharton School undergraduate. But I have slim chances of acceptance there. If I apply to the College of Arts and Sciences will I have a greater chance of getting in? In fact my High School transcript shows that I want to really be a doctor anyway with my many hours working in a hospital and the various doctors I have shadowed. I still want to do business more, but it would make more sense for me to apply to the the College of Arts and Sciences and switch later when I get in. If I do so, how much greater will my chances of acceptance be?

thanks

Apply to the school you want to get into. This question is asked very often. THERE IS NO BACKDOOR ADMISSIONS!!! I just wanted to capitalize for emphasis. Nothing against you, but many students try it, and few accomplish it. There is a required GPA to transfer into wharton, and it's relatively high (~3.7). So, the only way your plan would work would be if you believed that you could average to at least an A- (the GPA cutoff fluctuates with the number of applicants)..

that is a really lame plan. if you want business apply to wharton. don't worry you will still be able to take a lot of classes in the college :)

It's not looked too highly upon for students to do what you want to do. Word to the above posts. If it's yours, it's yours. On paper, you may have an interest in becoming a doctor, but a business degree/education is versatile. It can be used in any field. Apply to Wharton.

At wharton last year, 5200 applied and 500 were accepted. ~10% however, i have no idea what the acceptance rate is at the CAS, but I'd have to imagine it's higher.

Yea I know it's lame, and I generally hate doing lame stuff like this, but this is my future CAREER we are talking about! Also I have no qualms about being a doctor so it's not like I'm giong to be doing something I hate and I suppose that as long as I could take some classes in the Wharton School I would be OK. Does the college of Arts and Sciences have a cut off GPA?

IT would really suck if it did, mine is low because of all my honors/AP courses I took. The honors courses in my school are sometimes even harder than AP courses except we don't take that test in the end. I think it's going to be an averaged 3.5 after 1st quarter senior year.

It's not exactly easy getting into CAS, either. If you really want a surefire way into Penn, apply to Nursing!

Plus, you don't have to go to Wharton to have a future in business. Plenty of College grads (and SEAS grads for that matter) find themselves in business fields after graduation. Both the College and Wharton degrees are very flexible.

I am trying to go back to school but can't get admitted unless I pay a balance of 5,892.00 to the other school to release my transcripts. Is there a way that I can get a loan that will help me pay that, and then be on a payment plan. I want to continue school but I am at a standstill. I got accepted to Texas Southern University. I use to go to Baker University in Baldwind City Kansas...Do you know of any helpful solutions?

Go away. Post this on another, more appropriate subforum.

That was random.
