Question about admissions...

If I apply ED and get deferred (the most likely outcome), will they remember that I was an ED applicant when they evauate me during the RD round, and will that benefit me at all?

Thanks

One more thing...

How does princeton view the writing section of the new SAT? I heard Harvard and the UCs look at it with equal weight to that of the Math and CR, while Georgetown won't look at it at all. What's Princeton's policy? Do they even have a stated policy?

Yes, they do remember if one applied ED or RD, during the RD round evaluation.
But entirely not sure how that info would impact the admit decision process?

It would probably benefit you because it shows Princeton is your top choice and you are more likely to attend, and thus Princeton would keep its yield up by admitting you.

Good insight by Glinda.

My S was rejected RD in 2004 and was accepted RD in 2005. If they see unusual desire with an app that stands out they won't penalize applying again.

What about the SATs? Do they view the writing score with equal weight as the CR and Math?

If you get deferred, please, PLEASE write an update letter to the adcom (your regional rep, if you know who that is). Something light-hearted, telling them what you've been up to and that they are still your first choice. It used to be that only a few people did this and it made them stand out, but nowadays, it's become standard procedure and it might even hurt you not to write the letter.

And yes, you are marked as an ED applicant when they reevaluate. In fact, I don't think they read your app again. They just reread the summary sheet they made about you.

Don't know how they will view the writing, but I definitely don't think they will completely disregard it.

yes, they do remember, and it can only help you.
