Question about Advanced Standing Exams?

It seems that there will be advanced standing exams for calculus, biology, physics, and chemistry.

If you already have 5s of AP Calculus BC, AP Bio, or AP Physics C, is there any point to take these exams? Or am I missing something, lol =/

you can take the advanced standing exams for 18.02, 5.111, and 8.02 even with your 5's. that will relieve you from the science/math part of the GIR's

What Super6 means is that you *have to * take the advanced standing exam to get credit for those courses. You cannot get credit via AP exams, even with a 5.

You can get credit for calc 18.01 and Bio 7.012 from the 5s on AP tests. If you got a 5 on both parts of physics C, you also get credit for 8.01 (mechanics) only, which makes no sense, but there it is. This is all spelled out in the class of 2009 link.

as a random factoid, I think they say you need E&M to pass out of 8.01 because the E&M part is more effective at measuring your ability to use calculus in physics.
