Question about AI

I am a freshman undergrad currently doing a CS major. Will I need to go to graduate school/get a Ph.D. if I want to go into AI. My school offers an options for a particular CS concentration during the last two years of undergrad. I am thinking about going into AI I just want to know if this requires further education, if it does it wont be an issue, just something I'd like to begin thinking about.

I think Graduate school is probably when you start to really get into AI and AI research. The undergraduate classes are an introduction to AI with hardly any research. You also might need to study topics such as logic, psychology, mechanics, EE, linguistics, biology, math (ie a well rounded undergrad education) since AI is a vast topic.
