Question about alternate versions???

Okay so I'm aware that you can make alternate versions of the common app. Is it worth it to do this so as to fit different essays to different schools? For instance, I wrote one really good essay just today, but it was for a scholarship prompt at School A. So I can't use it for common app for School A, but I might really like to use it for School B's common app...anyone else do this? Common App prompt says "The Common Application essay should be the same for all colleges."

But a more specific question: When you move a school from one version's "My Colleges" to another, do parts of the supplement that are already filled out stay filled out? I've already done a lot of the supplements and I would hate to lose it all.

Does this help?

Question – If you make a different version of your Common App – is the ID number on the bottom of the teachers evaluation , mid year reports the same?

If not you could run into a problem- my daughter’s school ask for only 1 copy and they copy them and send them to the schools directly. Different numbers could be on the bottom of the reports. Can someone who has made several versions answer this question?

someone-else,
Yes, when you move a college to a new version all the information from the supplement moves.

Sharp101,
The Common App Online ID is unique based on the applicant, not the application. The ID number for your daughter will be the same across all versions of her application.

Great to know. My daughter school does the same thing…copies the SRR since each counselor has 400 students
