Question about alumni relation.

I'm new here so please pardon any errors in protocol.

I had a question about the strength of different alumni relations, and how close the relation must be to count and have any real impact.

In my case:

my dad went to Northwestern. (i'm assuming that counts as much as anything else would)

my aunt went to the University of Chicago.

my grandfather and great-uncle both went to Dartmouth.

I know it admission is obviously mostly dependent on grades/scores etc but just for sort of a general understanding, what would be the SAT thresholds with these relations with a 3.8 gpa (unweighted) at a very good high school?

There is no “threshold” that you wonder about. Assume you will have a bit of a tip factor at Northwestern and Dartmouth and both of those will require you to apply ED to really benefit since the school will think that if you are serious about following their legacy you would apply that way. I hear that Northwestern is very serious about demonstrated interest and you probably have to visit that campus (and make them know about it). If you would not be competitive based on your course rigor, SATs, and impressive ECs, those legacy tips wont help.

Alumni relation is “considered” at Northwestern. Demonstrated interest is weighted at the same level.
The same for Dartmouth though it’s uncertain if a grandparent would count. This Page Has Moved;

U Chicago does not publish their CDS. I doubt an aunt would count toward alumni relations.
