my son's school does not administer the amc (not the 8 or 10 or12) does anyone know if he can take it at a school that does offer it or how he can take it if his school isn't offering it...

Yes, he can. He just needs to contact that school to sign up, but AMC regulations on testing sites are pretty loose.

He can also take the test at some colleges near you:

Have you or your son talked to a math teacher or school administrator? When my son was in high school, he approached the college counselor and she was willing to proctor the AMC for him alone one year, in subsequent years, a very small group of students also took it. But he was very lucky to be at a very small high school with a college counselor who had the time and energy.

Another option - one of my son’s high school friends couldn’t find a teacher to proctor the exam so the friend’s mom arranged with the high school library to use the library to administer the AMC. As I remember the mom was there so the librarian didn’t have to stop what she was doing during the AMC.

The easiest way would be to approach the school about it. If the school is not willing to pay for the test, interested students/parents will usually chip in… You realize that you do not have to purchase all at once?

thanks i am going to get busy with your suggestions right away.

Kayakmom - I have organized AMC competitions from scratch at my kid’s school. PM me for a specific info …
