Question about an Extra Curricular/Essay Topic

When applying to colleges, specifically business programs, would it be an advantage to discuss how I've made ~ $10k starting from nothing via the internet. I've made youtube videos about video games such as call of duty, and I've worked my way to a youtube partnership so I'd receive ad revenue from the views my videos got.

Clearly, this is an extra curricular I've put some time into, but my question is to what extent should I explain this side of me, if at all?

My theory is that it could help my cause in that it holds some entrepreneurial value, as well as the fact that it deals directly with marketing/advertising.

However, I don't want to come off as a kid who has wasted his time on call of duty to make a few dollars.

So I guess I'm kind of stuck. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

p.s. To put it in perspective, I play 3 varsity sports, I'm being recruited for football at Ivy's and Nescacs, and I got solid Sats (2120) so it isn't something that took over my life or anything.

I’d definitely talk about that! Since your academics and athletic talent will be clearly shown elsewhere on the application, you don’t want to reiterate those things. In my opinion it’s better to write about something Admissions wouldn’t know about you from just looking at a piece of paper filled with statistics. It seems like it’d be an interesting and compelling essay, if written well. Good luck!

Understand that your competition may also have started something that earned them some web income. The web facilitates this sort of thing. But, can’t see how it would hurt to include, since the rest of your record is strong. The CA has a short answer ques about a significant EC. Or, work it into an essay as a journey or lesson. And, technically, you should declare the income on any finaid forms.
