question about AP Calc BC

Hi,
I'm in Precalculus right now and I wanted to take AP Calc BC next year. Would I be too far behind if I go into BC without taking Calculus before? Is the AP Calc BC test very hard (after you've taken the class)?

Thanks!

I was in the same situation as you. In sophmore year, i was in precalculus and directly went to Calc Bc. I have to say that you should be fine. However i cant tell you if the BC test is hard as i am going to take it this may.
I'll report back my score after i get it back.
The only thing that would make BC hard is if you have too many Aps, which may hinder your calc study habit.

Heh. I took Pre-Calc last year and this year I'm in Calc BC. I'm taking the AP test this May so I cannot answer that, but I will tell you that I did better in Calc than in Pre-Calc.

^Basically ditto for me.

So, I guess it sounds like I am going to be okay next year. Thanks!
Good luck on your APs!

I'm taking the Calc BC test this year as a sophmore too, and Ive heard its really hard but they curve it a lot, so you'll probably get a 5.

Why would you skip AP Calculus AB and go directly to AP Calculus BC? That would be like walking without learning how to crawl...

Predator, I've heard the test is really easy. All the old AP tests I've looked at have been really easy. It must be easy if 43% of takers get a 5.

bio_freak--- at my school the bc course incudes ab as well

i cant decide whether to take ab or bc

bio-freak:

Calculus BC is basically an extension of AB Calculus with just a few additional topics such as rapid repeated integration techniques, polars, curve lengths, and series. Most of the stuff is in fact calculus AB. I'm pretty sure I can take the Calc BC test, do all of the AB questions, skip the BC questions, and still get a 5.

BC Calc covers AB Calc + some extra topics. They curve the BC Calc exam by A LOT. I really wouldn't worry much.

Whatever.........
