Question about Ap credit and pre reqs

Would medical school still consider your grade for a Pre req class that you took in which you have ap credit for already?
In my case I received credit for ap physics but I'm taking the course in college again this semester to satisfy the requirements. However I won't get credit for that class since my ap credit covers that already. Because of this my grade in physics won't be included in my gpa but the grade I receieve in that class and the credit that the class is worth will show up on my transcript. Will medical school still use my grade in physics when they recalculate my gpa?

Yes. It will be calculated.

Ask specific Med. School Adcom. My D. has been doing it successfully. They are very willing to response.

Also, since my school won’t factor the grade i get for the physics class that i am taking because of my Ap score, will medical school still see this as fulfilling the physics pre req?

Yes. If it as you have stated, the grade will be counted and the class will count as a pre-requisite. Your transcript will read

Physics 101 4 credits A-.

AMCAS will take that as 4 credit hours of 3.7 (if your school says 3.66 or 3.75 AMCAS doesn’t care) and will add it in to your GPA. Individual schools will see Physics 101 and give you a check mark in the pre-req box. Neither AMCAS or the individual schools care beyond that. How your UG figures GPA? They don’t care. If you don’t get additional credit above your AP credit? They don’t care. As to Pre-req’s , it’s just simply (at it’s tightest) "Did you take it for a grade at a 4 year school? Does it show 4 hours? " If so, you are good to go.

Before stressing out and posting this here and on sdn, you can save yourself some stress and just read the AMCAS bulletin. Most of the answers are there. Looks like you are good to go. Now ace it. ;)

I have a random question, jjkwest. Were you required by the school to accept the credit for that class? Why didn’t you simply opt to not accept the credit, so that in turn when you took the class, the grade would have been calculated into your GPA.

I was told that if i took the course again the ap credit would automatically drop. But apparently that wasn’t true and now they can’t take away the ap credit, therefore i’m stuck with it.
