does it look bad if you take an AP/IB class but you don't take the tests? just out of curiosity...

well it doesnt look bad but all the hard work you did in the classes goes to waste because the college cannot determine how well you know the subject since each school has a different level of difficulty for their AP/IP program. so basicly the classes dont count except in your GPA.

it also matters what college you want to go to

why wouldnt u tho? like you could get credits for the classes tht you took if you do really well...

I've heard that it does look bad, but then again, I have a really bad counselor..

As ritz mentioned, why wouldn't you? Financial problems? (those AP tests can cost quite a lot) Or were you just simply being lazy?

to answer your questions, it happened to my friend this year. She took IB Environmental Science but didn't take the AP nor IB test, and she also took AP Physics C and didn't take mechanics nor E & M test. i think it was because she felt she wouldn't do well on the tests so it would probably look better on her college application if she didn't take them...

I've heard that the ivy leagues really hate it when you take an AP/IB class but do not take the tests... has anyone else heard about this?

most IB tests are taken senior year... if you're doing the diploma you can only take a max of 2 to count toward the diploma jr year.

If you don't want to take the tests, I heavily recommend you taking the AP classes, because in IB classes you do work throughout the 2 years that counts toward your IB grade, unlike AP where the test is your whole grade.

ya most of the work you do in ib classes is in prep for getting your diploma/cirtificates ...otherwise you would just be doing all of this external assesments that would later on basically count for nothing

IB tests are easy, other than Higher Level Math.
