I have heard that some schools will bump up a student's grade in an AP class if he scores high on the AP test. For example, if a kid got a B in an AP Class but got a 5 on the AP test, the school will change his grade to an A.

Is this practice very common?

Any of you guys familiar with this?

Im trying to persuade my school into doing the same for me.

a few of my teachers do it, but it all depends on the teacher. they are not obliged to do this and it has nothing to do with the school. however, teachers who do this are the ones who have had this policy for a while now, so the chances of you "persuading" them to do it are slim. sorry :[ it's worth a try, i suppose.

Your school won't be able to do the same just for your grade. Schools/ teachers either allow this practice or they don't. In my county, I have never heard of a teacher allowing it. I would love if they could: I, too, got a B in the class and a five on the exam. But it needs to be a standing process and go through the proper channels. If it doesn't, changing a student's grade is asking for trouble.

My son's school lets the teachers decide whether to do this or not. Only one or two bump up the grades for a 5 on an Ap at a school of nearly 4000 students. Wish more did!
