Question about Appealing to UCs

I'm starting to feel a bit nervous since I haven't received any decisions from any school yet. I know I'm not alone in this, but due to the excessive wait and my unrealistic anxiety, I've now been preparing reasons to compose a [hypothetical] appeal letter, should I end up being denied. UCSD is my first choice.

My question to you guys - have UCs, and UCSD in particular, been known to ask for an applicant's Spring semester grades in deciding whether to ultimately admit that applicant?

My circumstances (They aren't dire or anything):
I qualified for TAG, but could not sign it because: I couldn't enroll in the "Critical Thinking Skills" (English 3 at my CC) course last Fall, since my CC's courses were beyond over-enrolled. This course had to be completed by the end of Fall in order to sign the TAG.

I am now in that course along with 19 units and so far am making all A grades this semester.

Could I reasonably and successfully contest the fact that I was qualified for TAG, barring the fact that I couldn't complete English 3 last semester (only because its enrollment was full)? Would they accept a report of my current Spring grades if I suggested it?

Thanks in advance guys.

bummpp please

Good question. Im on the same boat as you for this one. Applied to UCSC UCI UCSB and UCSD and havent heard from one. My girlfriend is a freshman applicant and heard from all 4 already on the first day of notifications…

i wouldn’t mind knowing either

I’m not sure. I imagine it’s not uncommon to request such an appeal. Whether they care however, I don’t know. The primary requirement for requesting an appeal is compelling new information. If you didn’t elaborate on why you didn’t complete TAG, I’d say this is new information. I might make a similar appeal to Cal (my school’s articulation agreement lists classes they haven’t taught in years). I also want to change to EOP.

I’m almost 100% positive they don’t give damn about spring grades as a primary reason for an appeal. It’s assumed, so long as your current course load is smaller or of equal size to those you’ve had in the past, that you will continue the grade trend you’re on. So that cannot be the crux of your appeal.

I’m interested to see an answer to this as well. If I don’t get into Berkeley I expect to appeal :D
