My friend told me that one application works for all of the UCs, and that you only have to select which schools you want to send it to. Also, you don’t send recommendations from counselors or teachers, so applying to UC schools is a really quick and easy online process.

Is all of this true?

All of that is true. One app, $60 per campus, no recs. However, the app is not as easy as the common app to complete.

that’s really cool. so we don’t even go to respective UC schools to apply, we just go to universityofcalifornia.edu and everything happens there?

and why do you say it’s not as easy as common app to complete?

yes, there is one central app site. Like all online forms, the UC gurus have some required fields even when there is no data, or what could/should be optional. Thus, it may take a tweak or two to develop some work-arounds to get rid of the error messages. Plus, you have to load each and every course that you have ever taken. It works great if you’ve only attended one HS and its instate, but if you’ve taken coursework elsewhere, it can be PIA to link it all in.
