I want to apply to Northwestern, especially Medill. My question is if I apply to Medill, and get rejected, am I considered for WCAS? Also, is it possible to apply without SAT IIs?

Thanks!

From what I understand, you apply directly to only one school and are considered for admission to that school only. So, being rejected from Medill would mean you are rejected from Northwestern as a whole. During numerous info sessions, it was stated that difficulty of acceptance doesn’t vary too much between the schools.

And SAT 2’s aren’t required, though many students choose to send them in. You wouldn’t necessarily be at a disadvantage if you didn’t send any, but beefing up your resume with some more strong, standardized test scores couldn’t hurt.

You apply to either Medill, WCAS or one of the other undergrad schools. If you’re rejected from that school, you’re done.

My son got into McCormick ED with no SAT IIs. The AdCom he spoke to said that SAT IIs are for those who want to show better in an area - maybe screwed up a grade, or a test. Since son had 4.0 GPA and all 5s in AP he said thanks, and didn’t take the SAT subject tests. I guess that when they say optional - they mean it! Good luck to you.
