If I reach the requirements for an AP Award by the end of my junior year, when will I get the award? Will I be able to put it on my college applications?
Example: I had 2 exams in 10th grade and took another 6 this year. Assume I got all 4 and 5's on those, will I get AP National Scholar in time for apps?

Hell yeah, you're part of an elite 500 of kids....well not so elite, but compared to people who get AP national scholar after senior year, it's a noteworthy accomplishment.

yeah i hope to do that too.
i also have 2 done and took 6 this year.
Ill kill myself if i get 1 3 (but i dont think i will).

Good luck to you.

lol I just avoided that problem by doing all 8 math/science APs, where anything less than a 5 is unacceptable LOL!

If you just take BC, does that count as 2?

Naaaaahhhhhh.....

mathwiz,

nope, it's in the AP Central website. It says that AB subscore in Calc doesn't count towards calculations.

But what if you took AB and BC separately?
That's 2 right?

mathwiz, yeah if you took them seperately that's two. if you took only bc, then the subscore will not count for awards.

So when is the award issued? o=

Is there a certificate of some sort?

Edit: On collegeboard's website it says:

"Students are automatically awarded upon successful completion of the criteria."

Does this mean that it is indicated on the grades-summary report they send you?

..wish they provided more information.

Your school gets a separate paper with your info and the distinction you receive. You should get that written in your report. It is sent to colleges with your scores too. I don't think you actually get a diploma or the likes with the distinction written in it.

Wait.. do your grades on AP Exams during senior year count for the scholar awards? If so, then I can get National AP Scholar!

I think they should make AP scores accessible online. -.- That way sending reports would be so much easier. Thanks DFD for the info.

so if 3 Ap's junior year and 4 senior year, willthis allow you to pu distinction on college apps?

No, not until you've completed it and received the actual AP scores.

For AP exam Awards, the number of exams is all that you have taken throughout high school right?
