question about awards

i am going to apply to the UCs and am wondering if receiving the honor roll for all 4 years count as an award, cause i can't really think of anything else to write. also does playing the violin, but not in a group, just by myself count as an extracurricular

technically, honor roll is an award. However, it probably won't have that great of an effect (if any at all), on you application, because it's not really that impressive ( it's good, but not like aime, or isef).

i'm pretty sure that playing the violin on your own only counts as a hobby, not an extracurricular.

iuno how the UC app works but the commonapp asks for personal, family, extracurricular, etc or something. playing violin by yourself can count.

Hobbies generally count as extracurriculars :)

I don't mean to steal you thread but; I have played violin for 6 years, and I wanted to take orchestra however couldn't fit it in my schedule this year. I continue to take private lessons and practice regularly. Does it stop becoming an extra-curricular, and become just a hobby?

to the OP: I agree with you'llsee..., it counts as an award, but its not impressive.

nah sevitagen it's still an EC, dont worry :D

so just summing it up. playing the violin can count as extracurricular right? and being on honor roll can go on awards but its just not that big of a deal right?
