Hi, junior here who’s considering applying to McGill Arts for the BA in Computer Science. I want to specialize in Linguistics and the BA offers more room for that. However, the McGill website is vague as to whether or not admission into Arts guarantees admission into the CS BA. Will I have to apply specifically to CS, or will I have access to the BA in CS simply by gaining admission into Arts? Are the admissions standards for the CS BA any higher than those of Arts? I’d like insight into this from applicants or current/former students. Appreciate the help!
There are no second round admissions into any majors within your faculty at mcgill. So once you were admitted into the Arts faculty, you can pick any major offered there without limitations. We are not like UofT with their POST system. Although I think that some majors require minimum grades (usually B, B+) in pre-requisite courses, like math, but once you have that, you will definitely be allowed to study whatever you choose.
@Abcdzzzz Neuroscience is competitive entry after first year, isn’t it?
@deneuralyzer Have you looked into McGill’s Cognitive Science major in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences?
