So I'm kinda thinking that I'd rather stay around my area than venture to the east coast for college right away, and I've applied at Northwestern for theatre, but I was also maybe considering DePaul. I wasn't originally considering it (or any conservatory really) because I thought they didn't provide a rounded education, I thought it would just be in theatre. But I've recently found that DePaul has a liberal studies program that is required of every student. So would the BFA at DePaul equate to a BA with a theatre major somewhere else (obviously the BFA would be much more intense). So does this make the BFA pretty much as useful as a BA since it has those core classes? I'm just worried that a BFA will only be useful in theatre whereas a BA would be useful in most places, if that makes any sense, please correct me if I'm wrong

The answer is no. The BFA program at DePaul is completely separate from the other programs. The Theater School at DePaul is a true conservatory.

The BFA program at DPU will prepare you for employment in theater. I find that most BA programs will prepare you with a general theater education but DPU prepares you to work. It’s intense, focused, and competitive. Northwestern is much more general.
