Question about Bio1B course material..

so i'm taking bio1b right now and professor feldman has finished discussing Fungi, Algae, Mosses, Ferns, Gymnosperms, and Angiosperms.

my question is, does this stuff get any easier? he started discussing Plant Cells and Tissues today.

the first five lectures has confused me (lots and lots of material to absorb i guess), and i just wanted to know if it gets even harder? or will it get easier?

thanks!

I get the stuff that he talked about in class, but I don't really like the questions in the lab. Those questions really confused me.

yeah some of the questions in the lab are hard, but most of them are pretty straight forward i thought; most of the answers can be found in the reading.

like people said in the previous threads.....he's good at lecture and stuff, but he's test is really tricky

Depends on what you are looking for... Feldman was my favorite and I did the best on his section. He actually isn't tricky at all; you'll see what I mean when you get his midterm. Most questions are just about the life cycles and the ploidy of structures for his midterm.

Water relations/movement, essential minerals, and hormones are treated later in the course for the final and these subjects (I found) were easier. He'll give you mnemonics to help you learn these. (C' HOPKINS CaFe Manager! ahahhaa You'll see what I mean later in the course when he touches on minerals).

Don't feel overwhelmed by Feldman's lectures thusfar (I am a UGSI right now)... he really just wants you to know alternation of generations, fungi life cycle, ploidy during each step, and the defining characteristics of each class of plants (vascular v. non vascular, advancements in structure i.e. cones, pollen grains, flowers, etc.) I am not up to date with the lectures right now... but the last major topic that he covers on his midterm will be meristems and growth. This is heavily tested on for mt 1 so make sure you know what meristems lead to what kind of growth etc.

Those lab questions are often ambiguous and do not reflect the type of questions you will get on the professor's actual test so don't stress about lab material.

awesome reply, yes i do feel overwhelmed right now. X_X

i'm taking chem3a at the same time as well so i'm doubly stressed...

wow, that's very helpful LH.

you said "the section part is only tested on the final". did you mean "second"?

thanks!
