Okay, so I was told that I met the Florida Medallion Scholars Award (full tuition, etc...). However, I read somewhere that it only covers up to 45 credits per year. Is this true? And if it is, and one goes over 45 credits, how does it work from there?

It could have changed, but, in my daughter's case, it was calculated as the total number of credit hours paid over her entire college enrollment. She did "max out" of the award, as she completed two totally separate degrees, and four minors. You're almost certainly going to be fine - it's hard to do 45 credit hours per academic year, even if you do summers and intercessions. But the Bright Futures website should answer all of your questions.

I tried to get answers from the Bright Futures website... unfortunately, I wouldn't consider that site to be the pinnacle of user friendliness or intuitiveness, so I was unable to get the information there.

Still, thank you very much! ^.^ I am asking because I do plan to take a very heavy workload for at least the first year, at least, and even after reduction to essentials I seemed to be looking at some 46 credits, but if its over the entire college enrollment then I can just take it easier in some of the later years.

BTW, since your daughter "maxed out" her award, does that mean she hit exactly 45 credits/year, or she went over? And if it was the latter, what happened? Did she have to pay for some courses?
