Does the number matter, like 95 vs 100, or does the letter grade matter, like an A vs a B?

It depends. At my school, we look at GPA both ways. On the 4.0 scale, each letter grade is given a number. However, for class ranking purposes, the number grade is multiplied by whatever the multiplier is. Your school website may have more info on what scale(s) it uses.

Are you trying to convert your GPA to a 4.0 scale?

Don’t try to reinvent the wheel; the GPA is whatever it says on your transcript.

I’m not trying to convert it, I just want to know if percentage matters.

90= 4.0.

Most schools use the 4.0 scale:
A= 4.0
B=3.0
C=2.0
D=1.0
F=0.0

Weighted classes are usually 5.0 or 6.0

So the letter grade matters more than the percentage?

Most high schools use GPA systems that don’t distinguish between different percent grades that correspond to the same letter grade. My high school didn’t include percent grades on our transcripts, only letter grades, so colleges wouldn’t even have known our exact percent grades. Your school would probably give you a copy of your unofficial transcript to look at if you asked.

Some schools use 100-point GPA scales, so that someone who got 95% in every class would have a different GPA than someone who got 100% in every class.

Oh, I get it now. Thanks
