Question about CAS/Stern + Chances??

Well, I previously posted on NOCCA Junior's thread where he answered questions and such, but I have some new questions, hopefully anyone can answer, and I want to see my chances now because info is more recent ^^;;

First off, a while ago, I was really interested in Stern's marketing program. But now, the focus has a changed a bit... now it's to what most people at NYU Stern are there for-- I-banking. Anyway, since getting into Stern is really unlikely, and I still want to have the "NYU Experience" and be able to be around the opportunities of NYC and all, I thought about CAS's Econ/Math double major. (Since CAS is easier to get in).

Do they still get the same opportunities as someone doing, for example, Finance at Stern? I've read about a few things on the CC forums, but I want a little more info into the double major and the job opportunities after graduation (even those that don't deal with i-banking)

Secondly, I want to know my chances into both CAS & Stern... I'm probably going to apply ED to NYU, but if my chances at Stern are high enough, why not take a risk... that's business, right?

Anyway, here are my stats:

I'm currently a junior, male, black, and I live in Alabama.

SAT:
I am yet to take the SAT, but I'm going to take it the times offered after this year's PSAT. Last year's PSAT score was 180. (65 M, 54 CR, 61 W)

GPA:
Current GPA: 3.29 (uw), 3.76 (w) [freshman year - sophomore year]

Freshman year I really screwed up, but after moving to another private boarding school, I was able to salvage a bit of my GPA...and all courses taken since sophomore year have been honors, with the exception of AP Chem, and will continue to be this way (excluding AP courses). After the first semester of this year, I'm expecting the GPA to go up to 3.38 (uw) and 3.85 (w), and if everything works out this year (all A's), I'll have a 3.51 (uw) and 4.00 (w) at the end of the year...

AP courses:
Chem - sophomore year - 4 on the exam

Bio - junior year
Calc BC - junior year
Spanish - junior year

Phys C - senior year
Environmental - senior year
maybe Studio Art and/or English senior year too...

Courses:
I'm trying to take the most difficult courses at my school, while still holding on to a little bit of sanity at the same time...
I'm taking some pretty demanding courses this year, along with the AP's, including Organic Chem (><), Biochemistry, and Multivariable Calc...
I plan on taking more challenging courses next year (Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, Anatomy & Physiology) and possibly getting a distinction in math...

Rank:
My school doesn't rank, but I think I'm somewhere in the top 25% or higher.

EC's:
My EC's include being in the National Honor Society and National Spanish Honor Society since last year. This year, i'm in Key Club, JSA, Math Team, and a few others...

Honors:
I came in 1st place in a state-wide Spanish competition last year, and plan on attending this year as well. I have hope that I may be able to win presidency of the Spanish Honor Society next year, and also a position this year.
I got a bronze medal on the National Spanish exam for my level (without study :/)
I also received school honors in Math and Spanish.
I was invited to participate in this year's NCSSSMST convention and to partake in an Ambassadorial program overseas next summer, and plan on attending both.

Work Experience / Volunteering:
I tutored kids this past summer in math as a little summer job at a local learning center. I'm also am an official Spanish tutor at school.

Other:
I taught myself Japanese (no formal classes at all) and am at such a level that I can converse with some Japanese people who recently moved to my hometown, and sometimes help them with translations. I plan on taking either the Japanese SAT II (I did pretty well on a practice test) or the JLPT or something. I had the opportunity to go to Japan the winter of Freshman year, and that was quite an experience.

Thanks for reading what seems like my life story =P. If you have any suggestions on anything I should do, shouldn't do, or other places I can use as a more reasonable fit/reach, please let me know!!! Thanks!

You sound like you're on the right track for CAS, but so much of your post is "I plan to do this" and "I think my gpa will be this" and "I will probably...". You haven't even taken the SAT's yet.

Continue getting the best grades possible, taking challenging courses, and study hard for the SAT's. If you come back and post by the end of junior year, it'll be easier to say what your chances are. Sorry this didn't help much.

Wow... I didn't mean for it to sound like that. It's just that it/they hasn't/haven't happened yet, and even though I'm fairly certain that they will happen, I don't want to sound conceited or exaggerative. But I will update the information as soon as I have current PSAT/SAT scores and an updated GPA..

But thanks for the advice/help.. I'll surely take any I can get. =)
