Question about CB new sat video

Hey,

Today in school, we watched a video made by CB (which was very tacky may I add). A person in the video said that the old sat and new sat scores were interchangable. How is this possible? How can you interchange an old sat math score with a possibly harder new sat math score?

Correct me if I'm wrong but the only BIG change on the new SAT is that it is now required to take the writing. The math portion shouldn't really fluxuate, so if you took your old SAT scores along with the optional writing then that is basically interchangable, right?

Not exactly, because the New SAT includes Algebra II which, for most h.s. students, is a third-year math. New topics include absolute value, rational equations and inequalities, radical equations, domain and range, linear and quadratic functions, etc.

The old SAT only covered math topics up to Algebra I.

Oooooooooohhhh!

Some schools exclusively require the new SAT's for class of '06, some require either the New SAT or the old one accompanied w/ the SAT II Writing, very few schools will take just the old SAT for the class of '06.

EG:

there are only 3-5 questions from Alg II, so you could miss all of them and still do well; moreover, they got rid of those comparisons, which caused many kids grief
