Question about changing majors

ok here is my situation. I am currently a high school senior wanting to major in computer science engineering, but it is very competitive. If i get accepted my davis as an undeclared humanities or undeclared social sciences, can i take the beginner prerequisite courses (such as calculus, physics, and chemistry) in the first quarter and transfer into the college of engineering the second quarter? Also, what are my chances of getting into davis as an undeclared humanities/social science major. I have a 3.46 weighted gpa and 26 act composite score.

You won’t be able to transfer that quickly, because you’ll need a few quarters’ worth of courses to change to the CoE. Once you have all the necessary courses though, all you have to do is get a few signatures. This has a list of requirements: [Change of Major & FAQs, Computer Science & Engineering Major, Department of Computer Science](Undergraduate)

If you mean 3.46 UC GPA…not to sound harsh, but UCD is a reach regardless of major in that case. Your chances are slightly higher than if you were to apply as engineering initially (engineering admits by department last I checked, as opposed to the college as a whole as Letters and Science does), but they’re still pretty low. That said, that’s not to say you shouldn’t apply; you never know until you try, after all.
