I got into UCSB as Undeclared, I was wondering if I could switch my major to computer science before classes start and how would i go about doing the major change.

Thanks.

^It’s hard to switch into an Engineering major because those are a tad harder to get into. You’ll probably have to wait, but I’m not 100% sure.

At spring insight, they basically told us that it is easy to switch between majors in the same college, but harder to switch majors to different colleges. The College of Engineering is not the same as the basic College of Letters and Sciences, so it probably will be more difficult. You should definitely try to talk to someone in the college (email?) and see.

Are you an incoming freshman or a transfer student? Once you get in, you will be able to have the opportunity to change major as long as you complete the pre reqs with the gpa requirement they ask for that specific major you want to get into. But, talk to the advisors as well, they will be most helpful with this type of things.

Thanks for the quick replies. Hopefully I could get my major changed.

You can apply to change your major before you submit the SIR, according to the instructions on that page. And you WANT to do that; according to the same page

Yep. I’m a pre-comp sci major. Good luck.

O boy. I already submitted my SIR, hopefully I’ll be able to change it later on.
