For NYU admissions how much does class rank matter for students? I'm ranked 76/260 rite now at a very competitive public high school (NY), but the reason i'm so low is due to a medical reason during soph year, explained in the counselor's rec letter. My other stats are a 3.8 UW GPA hopefully a 1480+SAT (retook in Oct very confident) but as of right now 1430 M+V w/ a 680 in W. Really good ECs(about 8, but pursued them for a long amount of time, longest is about 8 years, shortest is 3.) and excellent recs. Will my rank hurt my chances alot, for my intended major and school, Business/Stern? Thanks!

i only have 57 kids in my class...i am 29th...we dont give ranks to colleges cuz the 57th kid has an 80 gpa.

So what exactly are you saying, NYU does or doesn't care about school rank that much?

uh.....i'm pretty sure a school like nyu LOOKS AT CLASS RANK

While tunit2190 is right that NYU will take your rank into consideration, I think you're fine if you have a medical reason for a less than stellar class rank, it's explained in the letter, your grades bear that out (ie, they improve markedly after your sophomore year), and you're as strong as you say in other areas.

No one weak area is going to ruin your chances, unless it's something like a felony.
