Question about class sign up

Hi, I just have a few questions regarding the signing up of classes for this fall.

1) If I sign up for a introduction to chemistry, does the accompanying lab also come with it or do I have to sign up for the lab separately? Is this the same for biology?

2)How do we know if something is for one semester only or if it’s for a full year?

3) How do we transfer the credit from AP to Brandeis? I read the directions from the Brandeis website but it’s kind of confusing so can someone put it in understandable terms. Thank you in advance.

Labs are required for classes that indicate them... including intro to chem and bio, so they're included when you sign up for the class.

All classes are only a semester.

A lot of AP credit only transfers as a credit hour or so and doesn't get you out of a class so keep that in mind. They should inform you of transferring deals when you get on campus.

Do you have a better chance of getting into a class if you sign up on July 11th rather than later in the registration period?

It's first come first served. So basically, you should try to register AT 10AM EST on the 11th. Upperclassmen have already had their go at registration so freshmen already only get what's left.

silverclover...not all classes are one semester. Some science courses are full year I believe.

That's not how a semester system works... If anything, there are two separate classes- one being part A, one being part B. I'm 99% sure there aren't actual full year classes.

Intro to Economics.... it says section a and section b.... does that mean I should register in a for fall and b for spring...

I looked at an old syllabus and it looks like the course is taught for a whole year...

Also, when will know the books required so we have time to order them?

I don't know about your intro to eco question b/c i never took it, and have no plans to take an eco course.

for your textbook question, you can find which books your class needs at http://brandeis.bkstore.com/bkstore/TextbookSelection.do?st=703

^ thanks for the textbook link.. do you think the bookstore is willing to tell me the isbn number of the book (i'm not sure which edition they're using in econ) or do they just want you to buy it from them?

----- i take back what i said about econ being the whole year... i misunderstood b/c i didn't realize i was looking at a spring syllabus~~!

So I guess there aren't any differences between "sections" . Does that simply mean the classes are split up because of size?

Yes, sections are created to accommodate more students.
