Question about college requirements.

Is there no point in trying to apply for a college if I do not meet their requirements? My situation is that I'm a senior now, and I would like to apply to Carnegie, but I checked their application, and they said I need to have 4 years of math and 3 years of electives. My problem is that by the end of the year, I will only have 3.5 amount of credits for math because I failed one term of math. As with electives, I don't really know what they would count as electives, so I might only have 1-2.5... Should I just give up hopes and go for a different school.

You’re talking about Carnegie Mellon, right?

If you failed a term of math, it’s unlikely you’d get in.

ALWAYS meet the requirements of a college. Like with me, I will have only 2 years of foreign language, so my college choices are now limited.

If it’s your dream school, apply, but also apply to some other matches and safeties.

Yeah, I kinda thought too highly of my math skills because the term before i had a 95 in the honors class, so the term right after I just slept in all of the classes. Picked up my math grades in precalc though with a 99. Also got a 750 on my math IIC but i’m not sure if that is good enough. Should I give up and try ED’ing to another school?

I just had a talk with my counselor today, and I am now considering if i should take regular statistics in order to fulfill the 4 year requirement carnegie is asking for. Right now I am taking a college course for calculus. I also found out that I probably will have the 3 years of electives that I needed too. Will I still have a chance to get into CMU, because it is THE dream school for me.
